Court Sentences Teenage Boy To 12 Months In Prison For Stealing Phone – A teenage boy identified as Shegun Olamide has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour on Wednesday by an Oredo Magistrates’ Court sitting in Benin for stealing N5,000 cell phone.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Ada Johnbull told the court that the accused committed the offence on Oct. 21 at about 4:00pm in Benin City.

The Insp. noted that the accused stole the N5,000 handset from one Amen Kingsley, adding that the offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code.

Olamide pleaded guilty to a charge of theft and begged the court for mercy.

The Magistrate, Mrs P.E Foy-Yamah in her ruling sentenced the 18-year-old boy to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour.
